Description

Robert Sorby Thread Cutting Set (Handled)

Robert Sorby Thread Cutters come in pairs and include a tool for exterior threads and one for cutting matching interior threads. Perfectly designed for making screw tight lids on boxes and caskets, this fascinating and practical aspect of woodturning includes a range of cutting tools that have been produced from High Speed Steel in 10, 16 and 20 threads per inch (TPI). They have been designed with a unique, enhanced helix angle specially designed for use in wood.

Sets are available in 10tpi, 16tpi and 20tpi. Sets include: Thread and Sizing Gauge and Focus on Specialist Woodturning Tools Part 3 DVD.

Robert Sorby are always looking of new ways to enhance our range, they listen to their customers and what they need.

With this in mind, Robert Sorby are pleased to introduce a new addition to the Thread Cutting System, the External / Internal 3.5mm pitch Thread Cutters, available handled and unhandled.

These new 3.5mm Thread Cutters are suitable for larger projects that do not require a fine thread, and also for woods with a more open grain. The larger pitch is also ideal to fit a turned project onto a M33 x 3.5mm lathe spindle thread.

To complement these tools, a range of optional items have been produced to provide a complete solution to thread cutting. These include:

  • Relief Cutting Tool
  • Tool Support Rest – to make forming internal threads easier
  • Thread and Sizing Gauge – takes all the guesswork out of dimensioning
  • Focus on Specialist Woodturning Tools Part 3 DVD – includes a range of projects

For those attempting their first steps in thread cutting, we recommend starting with the finer tooth pitches.
